The weather outside is frightful…
Just a quick post to let our readers know that we have survived the windstorm in the Pacific Northwest. The wind blew 50+kts on the Puget Sound with gusts to over 90kts. I was working on the Ferry Puyallup (460ft) that night and we were rolling pretty good even in these inside waters. Landings at the terminal in Seattle were pretty spectacular with this stiff south wind and the 90 degree dogleg into Eagle Harbor (Bainbridge Is.) was a challenge for the conning officer with the wind on your stern and the beach looming ahead. The second ferry on the run (the Wenatchee), blew out a window from the torquing of the vessel and operations were stopped for the night.
By the time the storm blew through, the power was out to over a million people for 5 days. We just got the lights back on here in North Bend last night. There are still about 100,000 homes in the Seattle area who are still in the dark.
Unfortunately, no power, no website updates… Once the dust settles we will get back to updating content on the site. MonsterMaritime.com is totally web-based so the Knowledgebase and Marketplace are functional whether I am here or not.
